Book Synopsis
Set in the future, Guardians witnesses a world destroyed by human action. Animals have been exterminated, habitats disrupted and fragmented, chaotic weather runs rampant, and more. Suddenly, dragons start to appear throughout the planet, causing frantic news and radio coverage.
Tensions and suspicions rise. Dragons were real all this time? Why are they here? How are they going to react to humans?
Dragon cultures clash and expectations are contradicted. Disinterested in human activity, the dragons focus on fixing what the humans have destroyed: oceans, forests, air quality, biodiversity, and more.
But what if the humans intervene with the dragon's work?

Karen: "Paul has told us he learned something new about the dragon a few nights ago, and we will be the first hear about it today. Now to his livestream!"
[Video on Karen cuts. Live stream from Paul Quartren plays. Everything is dark, except Paul's face, illuminated by a white light.]
Paul: "Hello, everyone! You won't believe what I saw; it's amazing really."
"Sadly, I couldn't get it on camera. I've discovered that the dragon hates cameras and that is why it is difficult to approach her."
"However, I have finally seen it! I saw the dragon adding ice to the Arctic."
"First, she splashes water up onto the ice with her top two wings. Then, she releases this mist from her mouth, and the water quickly transforms into snow. She pushes her talons into the snow, and her silver claws start to glow blue! The snow hardens and becomes ice."
"I've watched her do this multiple times now. I believe I've gained her trust. I've even seen her fully emerge from the ice, her claws glowing with every step. I think she's strengthening it so it is not affected by the warmth of our climate."
[Paul shuffles through some papers, reading text.]
"I know many people are wondering if the dragon can talk; I've received plenty of messages online asking this question. I'm not quite sure if she can, but I do think she understands us, or at least me."
"If she is intelligent enough to know there's a problem with the Arctic cap and fix it, I believe she is intelligent enough to understand us."
